About me
Beau Brown is the General Counsel of the Alabama Securities Commission (“Commission”) in Montgomery, AL, where he manages a complex civil and criminal caseload and represents the Commission’s interests at the State Legislature on issues that affect policy and legislation. In this role, Beau also addresses a myriad of legal issues that come into the Commission.
During his tenure at the Alabama Securities Commission, Beau has helped facilitate a number of nationally publicized multi-state cooperative enforcement matters and routinely works with federal agencies on cases involving securities, cryptocurrency, and other decentralized financial products. He also serves as the attorney assigned on behalf of the Commission in the largest joint-filing between the CFTC and state regulators to date.
Beau is a seasoned prosecutor with over 20 years of experience at both the state and federal level. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney where he prosecuted financial crimes, identity theft, and cyber fraud, as well as helped organize and lead the Counter-Proliferation and Export Control Task Force for the Northern District of Alabama. He also served as an Assistant District Attorney where he started the office’s white-collar fraud division, prosecuted homicide and other violent felonies, and led the office’s narcotics unit. Throughout his career, Beau has coordinated and litigated numerous multi-jurisdictional fraud actions with various state and federal agencies.
On two separate occasions, Beau was tasked to the Alabama Attorney General’s Office as a part of the prosecution team in separate impeachment actions involving elected sheriffs in Alabama, with the first case being the first impeachment trial before the Alabama Supreme Court in over 50 years.
Beau earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama.
